About the role
IKM GeoTeam was established in 2022 as a geotechnical engineering firm with offices in Sandnes (head office), Oslo, Trondheim, and Bergen. However, the team has a long history of providing geotechnical engineering services through the establishment of its parent company, IKM Ocean Design. We specialize in geotechnical design, consulting, and third-party assessments for land-based, coastal, and offshore projects.
As a geotechnical engineer, you will become part of our office in Stavanger, where you will collaborate with a skilled team of seven geotechnical and geological engineers. You will also be part of a strong professional environment that prioritizes collaboration and knowledge sharing. We work together as a large team on exciting projects, with a supportive culture where there is always room to ask questions and share ideas.

Work tasks
We are looking for someone who wants to work on a project basis, and as you become more comfortable in the role, you will also have the opportunity to further specialize your skills. The main tasks will be within the subsea and marine industry, and although we work a lot with pipelines, the workday will vary greatly in terms of tasks and project stages. Responsibilities will include, among others:
- Planning and interpretation of geotechnical and geophysical surveys.
- Assessment of geological conditions and identification of geohazards such as landslides, earthquakes, and erosion
- Design and implementation of seabed interventions and earthworks, including rock installation, trenching, and backfilling
- Development of foundation designs for both deep and shallow foundations, such as steel mudmats, piles, and suction anchors
- Performing geotechnical analyses such as slope stability, bearing capacity, settlements, and pipe-soil interaction
- Third-party assessments, including geotechnical engineering verification and quality control of reports
- Support onshore and offshore, including 24/7 engineering support and representation in offshore campaigns
We are looking for
- Holds a master’s or PhD in geotechnics
- Has good skills with Excel and Microsoft 365
- Communicates well in Norwegian or English, both written and spoken
